Aston Martin’s One-77 supercar has moved closer to setting a new all-time record for the British marque in initial high speed testing after surpassing all predictions and breaking the 220mph mark.

The One-77 is currently undergoing a stringent development process ahead of planned launch in 2010 with high speed testing taking place at a top secret proving ground in southern Europe. In a series of test runs completed last week the One-77 exceeded original expectations and recorded a 220.007mph (354.86kmh) top speed in dry but windy conditions under the guidance of the Aston Martin engineering team.

Aston Martin has seen a great success with its top of the line sports cars; the DBS and the V12 Vantage. Recently, Aston Martin announced the makeover of these exotic sports cars where each car will be hand-painted in Carbon black metallic paint especially forumulated with a subtle metallic twist to create a deep rich patina. Customers purchasing the Carbon Black Edition will have the opportunity to experience Aston Martin's renowned Performance Driving Course free of charge.

Aston Martin today releases the first official images of the ‘Cygnet’ – a new luxury commuter concept car.

The Cygnet concept represents a creative, environmentally conscious solution, being small, yet with presence – and highly fuel efficient, now combined with the prestige of Aston Martin’s luxury brand ownership.

Work on the concept is ongoing and will continue into 2010 when it is hoped that it will become a production reality initially available to Aston Martin customers in the UK and Europe.
